Video & Presentation
My name is Lirije Shaqiri. I’ve been an athlete for many years. I’ve struggled a lot to get here because, in those years, many years ago approximately 40 years ago, I had trouble with my parents. They didn’t allow me to engage in sports. I fought hard. My mother and father fought hard with each other, accepting the father’s side that sports are for boys and not for girls. My brothers played football, and we had no absolutely rights to practice sports. We must do only School, Work and home. I am a physical education teacher at Marigo Posho School, serving the sports teams, volleyball and basketball. For gender equality, I work hard with parents, because What my mother and father couldn’t do with me and my sister, I am doing it today with parents because they still hold back. Many parents hold back their girls, sending them only to math or English courses, as if they should only go to school. But children need recreation. I’ve started with sports teams bringing parents closer, who come to see their children’s playing games here, and they are very satisfied how well organized we are. By working hard with parents, we’ve reached this point. There are sports teams and teachers who work hard to bring these children into the teams.
Today on date 30.01.2025 it organized an activity related Gender Balance. The students then participated in a mixed game where they were divided into mixed groups, boys and girls together, to collaborate and complete different challenges. The game aimed to emphasize that everyone can contribute in the same way, regardless of gender.
At the end of the activity, students shared their thoughts on what they learned and how they can apply gender equality in everyday life. The activity helped the children to better understand the importance of respect and cooperation between the sexes.
